Semillon’s traditional home is in Bordeaux, where it is nearly always blended with Sauvignon Blanc. This style is emulated with great success in Western Australia. Australia, uniquely, also produces high quality wine solely from Semillon. Hunter Valley Semillon, with its crisp citrus flavours and its exceptional ability to develop with age, is one of Australia’s great contributions to the world of wine.
A soft, more approachable Hunter Valley Semillon exhibits aromas of lime and refreshing citrus flavours. The floral nose leads into a palate that is seamlessly balanced between soft Semillon fruit characters and a clean light finish.

The palate has a lovely weight and viscosity with loads of lime and grapefruit with a grassy, herbal character, and a stony mineral note underneath. It's crisp and fresh with a taut acidity and linear focus through to the finish. Fresh and appealing.

"As if by alchemy, with age semillon slips into a toasty, butter brioche, lime-marmalade and waxy realm without its acidity wavering. This certainly has freshness and plenty of years ahead of it, but that magical 5-years-before-release-date includes all the other complex stuff." Halliday Wine Companion

"Clean, lemon, lime, light honeyed tones – subdued – and then? A powerhouse palate presenting juicy, almost sweet, citrus fruit that fills the mouth – remarkable presence for such a light wine. Subtle powdery texture and pure acidity. Length to burn. A classic Vat 1." Gary Walsh

Semillon of the year 2017 Wine Companion
"Hand-picked, crushed, the juice drained quickly from the skins, cultured yeast, slow ferment, early bottled, seven trophies. Won its first trophy in Melbourne in '12, the next six in Queensland in '14 and '15. In other words, its only now hitting its straps, and doing so in brilliant fashion, initially delicately delicious, literally taking off on the back-palate and aftertaste. Worth every cent of the price. Halliday Wine Companion
